About Rocket Knockout

Rocket Knockout drops two rockets into a tight arena ringed by a glowing boundary, and there is no clock forcing the issue — the arena itself starts shrinking about a minute in, squeezing both pilots toward the center until someone gets pushed past the edge. Hull damage is only half the fight: ramming an opponent at speed knocks both rockets back and chips their armor, and drifting past the boundary for too long ends the match in a ring-out just as decisively as running out of hull would. Everyone starts on a stock blaster, but four glowing pickups drift around the asteroid field — homing missiles, a triple-shot spread, a slow-charging plasma cannon, plus shield, rapid-fire and speed buffs — so a losing fight can flip in seconds if you grab the right one before your opponent does. Play against three CPU tiers with genuinely different aim, dodging and boost habits, or hand a second pilot the other half of the keyboard for local 2-player, with full dual-joystick touch controls for anyone playing on a phone or tablet.

Our Take on Rocket Knockout

The shrinking arena is the standout idea here — it stops matches from turning into two rockets circling forever and forces a real endgame. Ring-outs counting as a full win alongside hull damage gives fights two genuinely different ways to end, which keeps a losing hull battle from feeling automatically lost. The three CPU tiers have real, noticeably different aim and dodge habits rather than just more hit points, so it's worth playing solo even without a second pilot handy.

Best suited for: Works best as a short, high-intensity couch session with a second player, or a few solo rounds against a CPU tier that actually matches your skill.

Multiplayer: Local 2-player only, splitting the keyboard between two pilots on the same device — there is no online room for this one.

Difficulty

Basic flying and shooting click fast, but managing hull damage, boost, and a shrinking arena at once — while deciding whether to ram or hang back for a pickup — takes real practice against the tougher CPU tiers.

Tips for Rocket Knockout

  • The arena isn't a fixed boundary — after 65 seconds it starts shrinking over the next 35 seconds, so a defensive playstyle that worked early can suddenly put you out of bounds; watch the ring as the clock passes the 1-minute mark.
  • Straying outside the boundary doesn't eliminate you instantly — you have about 1.8 seconds to get back in before you're knocked out, so a brief overshoot while dodging is recoverable if you react fast.
  • Boost draws from a real energy meter that drains while held and only regenerates when you let go — once it drops too low it locks out until it recovers past a higher threshold, so don't hold boost down to the very last drop.
  • Ramming only deals real damage above a minimum closing speed, and the damage scales with how fast you're closing — a slow bump barely matters, but a high-speed head-on hit punishes both rockets hard.
  • Missiles and plasma carry much stronger knockback than the default blaster, so picking one up before a boundary fight can be more useful than raw damage — shove your rival out instead of grinding down their hull.

Rocket Knockout — Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I fly out of the arena in Rocket Knockout?

The arena is bounded by a glowing ring, not a hard wall — you can cross it, but a warning timer starts counting the moment you do. Stay outside for about two seconds without returning and you are eliminated by ring-out, which counts as a full loss exactly like running out of hull.

What do the pickups do in Rocket Knockout?

Glowing pickups spawn around the arena and grant a limited number of charges of a stronger weapon — homing missiles, a triple-shot spread, or a slow, heavy-hitting plasma cannon — or a timed buff: a shield that absorbs incoming damage, rapid fire that shortens your weapon cooldown, or a speed boost. Once a weapon runs out of charges you drop back to the unlimited stock blaster.

How do the CPU difficulty levels differ?

Rookie CPU reacts slowly and misses its aim often. Pilot CPU leads its shots against a moving target and prioritizes grabbing pickups. Ace CPU predicts your position further ahead, dodges incoming fire, and pushes hard for ring-outs near the shrinking boundary — each tier is a genuinely different opponent, not just a damage-multiplier reskin.
